As Rocco Forte Hotels Director of Design, Olga Polizzi, says, "A suite should capture the imagination and inspire a sense of place, celebrating the history of the building, the culture of the city, or the distinguished guests who have resided at the property."
THE ARTIST
Picasso Suite, Hotel de Russie, Rome
In 1917, Pablo Picasso stayed at Hotel de Russie while collaborating on the ballet Parade. The adjoining rooms he shared with Jean Cocteau overlooked the Secret Garden, a view that inspired Picasso’s creative process. Today, the Picasso Suite offers a vibrant homage to the artist with amethyst and gold hues, handcrafted tapestry cushions, and iconic works adorning the space.
THE DESIGNER
Sir Paul Smith Suite, Brown’s Hotel, London
London's Brown’s Hotel presents the Sir Paul Smith Suite, a collaboration between the designer and Olga Polizzi. The suite features a unique brass banana door handle, and a floor-to-ceiling gallery of Sir Paul’s eclectic collection. Here, British style meets eccentricity, creating an inviting space that celebrates both the designer’s signature stripes and the city’s flair for individuality.
THE WRITER
J.K. Rowling Suite, The Balmoral, Edinburgh
At The Balmoral, J.K. Rowling completed the final pages of the Harry Potter series. The suite where she stayed for six months has become a cherished piece of Edinburgh's literary history. A marble bust of Hermes and a golden owl knocker on the front door pay tribute to the suite’s enchanting past, while the space invites guests into the world of magic and creativity.
THE ARISTOCRAT
Donna Franca Suite, Villa Igiea, Palermo
Named after the glamorous Sicilian noblewoman Donna Franca Florio, the Donna Franca Suite at Villa Igiea embodies the elegance and legacy of the Florio family.
